FANTASTIC fund-raising has won a Sprotbrough group of volunteers a top award.
The coffer fillers of St Mary's and now St Edmund's Churches in the village, have a new trophy, in recognition of their amazing efforts in amassing cash for the Children's Society over 20 years.
In that time, the diligent team have pulled together over £100,000 for the charity – enough to finance four project workers for a whole year!
Their Star Fundraising Group accolade came after community fund-raising manager Sandi Deakin nominated them for the award.
Eleven volunteers travelled to Durham for the presentation, then came back to continue their money-making labours, plus the opening of money boxes on November 8.
Victor Hext, chairman of the fund-raising committee since its inception in 1988, said: "We're delighted to have received the award.
"We are also involved heavily in a local project, Embrace, which is based at Sheffield and concentrates on helping immigrant children. We are well supported in the community."
